just four months after the couple got hitched,urban suddenly checked himself into rehab for substance abuse issues. urban admitted to people that his decisionto get clean and sober was because of the fear that he might, in his words, "lose itall." "it was like, 'if i don't choose this momentto do the right thing and do something that's going to give me life, all of the things i'mscared of losing, i'm going to lose anyway." urban admitted that his stint in rehab was"very, very hard" on his new wife. kidman confirmed that statement with vanityfair, saying, "we were in a very, very, very bad, painfulplace, and have managed to step through it,
and i hope that gives some people some hopewho may be in the same place." kidman called the intervention urban's sudden departure to rehab wasn't completelya surprise to kidman, however. in a 2014 interview with rolling stone, urbanconfessed that it was actually kidman who organized the intervention that sent him torehab, saying, "i was very, very blessed to have [kidman]call an intervention on me. i had a tight group of friends around me forthe intervention. and off i went....that was how i was ableto keep it together." they never text or e-mail
